About Me
Hey, I’m Chloe! I graduated in the Class of 2023 from NC State University with a B.A. in communication media and a minor in creative writing. Some of my favorite things are books, music, the iZombie TV series, watching figure skating, 4-H, and my friends and family.
As long as I can remember, I’ve loved media. Writing, videography, photography — almost anything I could get my hands on. Given the fact that I used to make my own news and entertainment video segments, print a newsletter I called “The Chloe Gazette,” take photos of random things like the opening of a new Walmart or a new flower that appeared in my yard, and concoct grand stories to act out when I played pretend with my imaginary friends, I think I was destined to be involved in the creating and sharing of stories and news.

The highlight of my time at NC State was working for Technician, NC
State’s student-led news outlet. I started in 2019 as a videographer and was promoted to staff videographer after just a few months. I became the video editor in Spring 2021 and held that position until I graduated in Spring 2023. During my time at Technician, I gained specific experience working in the field of sports journalism, as I had the opportunity through Technician to do video coverage of various sporting events, including NC State Football's appearance at the 2022 Duke's Mayo Bowl, the 2023 Frozen Finley hockey game between IcePack and UNC club hockey, and NC State Women's Basketball's appearances at the 2022 and 2023 ACC Women's Basketball Tournament. Sports journalism quickly became a passion of mine and I picked it up as a hobby, providing amateur coverage and commentary of international figure skating competitions beginning in Fall 2021.

I’ve been producing videos since 2016, writing since 2014, and doing photography since 2010. My video experience is mostly with Technician, but I got my start in the Teen Newsroom program at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences and I’ve done some volunteer freelance video work as well. My writing is mostly creative writing, but I have experience with media writing as well. I’ve been working on developing a novel since early 2020, but I didn’t start creatively writing seriously until early 2021. I’ve been entering photos in the NC State Fair since 2010 and I won my first blue ribbon at age nine in 2011. I do a lot of amateur photography, but some of my photos have been also published through Technician and Windhover, NC State's literary magazine.
A special interest of mine that will be reflected on this site is figure skating. Despite never having skated, I have a love for the sport that’s been growing steadily since 2015 and is reflected in the amateur commentary I do for men’s singles figure skating, as well as occasional amateur commentary for women’s singles, pairs, and ice dance. I also have an interest in the Olympics and occasionally give some amateur commentary for points of interest for the Games. My hope is to grow my coverage of figure skating in the coming months and to build a platform for my commentary.
